Veterans day, originally known as Armistice Day, was founded on November 11, 1919, one year after WWI. Armistice signifies a truce or peace agreement made by opposing sides in a war to end the fight. This revolutionary truce went into effect on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. November 11 became an official federal holiday in 1938 and was later amended in 1954 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to recognize all veterans. We are proud to continue this tradition.
